Verse 1: I'm just a number and that's OK Gotta keep a roof over my daughter's head So I just need to get paid I'm traumatized by the time that I got laid Off from my job two weeks before her first birthday Chorus: I'm just a motherfucking number You're just a motherfucking number We're all just motherfucking numbers And that's OK Verse 2: They love to say that we're like family Then fuck you out upon your ear Without insurance for your baby Human resources are just enforcers for CEO clowns Shoulds, woulda, coulda, it's too late for all that now Verse 3: Millennials are jaded from doing everything right Educated for promises Of a better life Go above, go beyond, prove your value to be rewarded Gen Z, you're watching this lie, feel free to blow it up tonight
2.
Verse 1: They say, it's OK, because Spotify pays Let me tell you about the 53 cents that I made It took a year and a half Can't exactly feed a family for that Can't even buy a guitar pick with that Verse 2: OK, turn away, from the awkward point we make Don't let our inconvenience inconvenience you It takes two thousand plays to make a dollar Financially selling CDs at gigs was better Chorus: Spotify is the digital equivalent of smearing shit in our Spotify is the digital equivalent of smearing shit in our face Verse 3: Spotify say, they won't pay, for songs with fewer than a thousand plays They'll give the revenue to major artists instead It might only be a dime but that dime is mine
3.
Verse 1: Walking with my baby in her stroller Around our neighborhood in Queens There's always some motherfucker Not stopping at the crossing When there's a stop sign Chorus: I want to gently press my thumb down on your windpipe Gently but firmly I want to gently press my thumb down on your windpipe And I'll stop when you can't breathe Verse 2: Assholes in my neighborhood on quad bikes And on dirt bikes too These dipshits ignore lights at crossings You'd think that cops would do... Something...but they won't...so... Verse 3 I cannot fail to mention cyclists They act so smug and self-righteous They give as little of a fuck as drivers Ignoring lights and pedestrians too I bet you know what I'd like to do
4.
Verse 1: I thought you were looking for me I must have been wrong I thought I was looking for you But that was in a different song Pre-chorus: And you cold never reveal yourself to me, oh no And you could never eat or sleep with me, no no Verse 2: I didn't think it would end like this But what can we do now I didn't think it would end at all But I knocked off your crown Chorus: I stole the crown and I will not give it back I stole it fair and square You can't say anything to that Verse 3: I don't know what you thought you'd find But I don't mind I am guilty of all crimes Now you just don't have the time

about

Last Bandcamp Friday, I got a lil jelly of my chums who had new releases.

It's not like I'm stuck for songs, so I worked through full-time job, parenting, sharing a recording space with our oil burner, a sick toddler, and the discomfort of not playing guitar as much as I'd like to, to get this done.
